US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin secured Philippine pact allowing military exercises

US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin was able to secure a much sought-after military agreement from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to restore a key pact that would allow military exercises between the two countries to continue.

The secretary of defense's position of command and authority over the military is second only to that of the president of the United States: often called "deputy commander-in-chief"

“The president decided to recall or retract the termination letter for the VFA,” Lorenzana told reporters after an hour-long meeting with Austin

The main goal for a U.S & Philippine pact is to secure a launching pad against any potential China operation.

No word yet if Covid Vaccine Diplomacy was used in order to secure a pact with the Philippines.
