Mexican authorities have arrested an American national reportedly carrying identification linked to the CIA, officials announced Saturday. The man, whose identity has not been released, was detained for allegedly disturbing the peace and possessing firearms restricted for military use. According to the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico, law enforcement discovered six firearms, loaded magazines, live ammunition, and tactical gear in his possession.

The arrest comes amid growing speculation that Mexico may be facing pressure or interference from the United States following recent judicial reforms aimed at holding corrupt judges—some allegedly aligned with U.S. interests—accountable. Additionally, Mexico’s efforts to achieve energy independence have raised tensions with Washington, fueling theories of increased U.S. scrutiny or covert activity in the region.
