Mexico’s new leftist government is facing its biggest challenge to Mexico in modern history and now its Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is positive for the coronavirus. It’s worth noting that 50% of those tested are positive for coronavirus.
Earlier in the week Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador also participated in a phone call with new U.S president Biden. The U.S President outlined his plan to reduce migration by addressing its root causes, increasing resettlement capacity and lawful alternative immigration pathways, improving processing at the border to adjudicate requests for asylum, and reversing the previous administration’s draconian immigration policies.
The president also noted that he will participate in a scheduled Monday call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador chimed in on twitter.
R/Mexico on Reddit has become a circle jerk of sorts for memes berating the president of Mexico.
R/Mexico exploding with Euphoria in favor after news of his positive case was reported. The subgroup has lost itself after the President was elected and has become an anti AMLO echo chamber of the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Most of the users sound as if things were better-off under past corrupt Presidents and thus wish PRI was still in charge, sadly most users probably wish the President was more white-looking.
BREAKING—Mexico 🇲🇽 President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) has contracted #COVID19. He says he has mild symptoms thus far.— Eric Feigl-Ding (@DrEricDing) January 25, 2021
I’ve been warning for months Mexico has a serious uncontrolled epidemic. @HLGatell dismissed and says it was fine cuz hospitals weren’t full. pic.twitter.com/yS8Lc2PjGw
2) Rewind to June 21 2020, I was very worried and warning about Mexico’s 50% positivity that matched the high numbers of NY (state) & average 7 day positivity of Spain and Italy. Positivity reflects both limited testing and/or caseload—both worrisome. @MaxCRoser super worried too https://t.co/kFXjlESVBw— Eric Feigl-Ding (@DrEricDing) January 25, 2021
